Dish Bitch

I love good food-- whether it is fois gras or cheez-its.

Restaurants and other food experiences around Seattle or other places

The link to a restaurant's menu will be disguised as the name of the restaurant in bold right after the title.

Sitka & Spruce

Monday at Sitka & Spruce is taco night.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sitka & Spruce. They make small alterations to their menu everyday based on the fresh ingredients they get that day. It’s wonderfully cooked and the flavor combinations are complex, but holistically taste incredibly cohesive and simple.

If you go on Monday, you MUST get the homemade guacamole because they make it with a mortar and pestle in the kitchen. If you’re lucky you’ll get to sit at the family style table that’s right next to the kitchen station.

Not only is the food amazing, but the ambiance of the restaurant is a little industrial and rustic with a nice open kitchen where you can see the action right in front of you.

You have to be warned: the wait is sometimes a little crazy especially when you are going for the dinner service, but you can always put your name on the list, grab a quick drink somewhere and come back. It is definitely, 100% worth the wait. Also their hours are odd so call or check their website before hand. It’s tucked away in the back of Melrose Market, next to Machiavelli and in front of Bauhaus.

The portions are not very big, but I like to get a couple things with whoever I’m with so we get a taste of many different things.

I don’t have the best camera but here are some pictures of the food.
